Was ensteht, wenn man versucht, eine animierte Bewegung in einem einzigen Bild zu komprimieren? – Organische Gebilde von ganz eigenem Reiz, wie man sie oben sieht. Manche sagen „Animationsblume“ dazu, treffend wäre vielleicht auch Animationsgeologie: wie der Schnitt durch eine Erdschicht, in der man die Entwicklung von Jahrmillionen sieht… gut, bei uns eher von Sekundenbruchteilen.
Was man in einem solchen Bild lesen kann, ist vor allem Dynamik: Wie schnell und schockartig etwas passiert, oder auch wie ebenmäßig-kontinuierlich. Faszinierend ist, wie Zeit hier unverhofft zu Form wird – und die Entstehung von Film und Bewegtbild mit der Entwicklung der abstrakten Kunst mehr zu tun hat, als man im ersten Moment vielleicht denkt.

What you can read out of it first and foremost is dynamics: Does something take place rapidly and abruptly – or rather evenly and continuously? It is fascinating how time turns into form here – and a sort of proof that the birth of film and abstract art at about the same time couldn’t just have happened by coincidence.
